Bandipora, November: In a commendable effort to safeguard children’s rights, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Bandipora in collaboration with the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), has successfully reintegrated a child labor victim back into the formal education system.
The child, who had been forced into domestic labor by his father, was rescued during an anti-child labor drive conducted by the CWC in the district. After the rescue, he was placed in the government-run ‘PALAASH’ Boys’ Children Home, a facility dedicated to the care and education of vulnerable children.
With the support and guidance of the CWC Chairperson Dr. Asima Hassan and District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Sahir Majeed, the child was enrolled in ‘PALAASH’. The dedicated staff at the shelter home provided him with academic and emotional support, enabling him to overcome a three-year educational gap.
Dr. Asima Hassan commended the collaborative efforts of all involved, emphasizing the importance of protecting children’s rights. “This success story demonstrates our unwavering commitment to safeguarding children’s futures. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that every child in Bandipora has access to education and a brighter future,” she stated.
The child has since successfully cleared his matriculation examinations, a remarkable achievement that highlights the transformative power of education and the dedication of the CWC, DCPU, and the ‘PALAASH’ team.
DCPO Sahir Majeed stressed the significance of community involvement in addressing child labor issues. “It is our collective responsibility to protect children’s rights to education and a dignified childhood,” he said.
The CWC Bandipora remains steadfast in its mission to eradicate child labor and create a nurturing environment for every child in the district.
