Ruhullah Mehdi Demands Apology from PM Modi Over Alleged Mistreatment of Government Employees at Yoga Day Event

SRINAGAR: National Conference MP-elect Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi on Friday demanded an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi if reports of government employees being “forced” to walk barefoot for his International Yoga Day event prove to be true.

Prime Minister Modi led the Yoga Day event at SKICC in Srinagar on Friday morning. Mehdi, who recently won the parliamentary seat from Srinagar Lok Sabha, posted a video on X allegedly showing participants walking barefoot in the rain.

“Reports and videos surfaced showing employees forced into walking barefoot in an event organised for the Prime Minister. The way this administration has treated the employees shows its disregard for respect and basic rights of the employees. And this behaviour is unacceptable,” stated Mehdi, a prominent Shia leader.

Mehdi insisted that if the reports are accurate, the Prime Minister “should apologise for this disrespectful treatment of the employees”.
