Srinagar, September 16: The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, Shri V.K. Birdi, held a comprehensive security review meeting today at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to assess the current security landscape across the region. The meeting brought together all Range Deputy Inspectors General (DIsG), district Senior Superintendents of Police (SSsP), and other senior officers.
During the session, DIsG and SSsP provided the IGP with an overview of the law and order situation in their respective areas. IGP Birdi underscored the importance of strengthening investigations and building robust cases to increase conviction rates, particularly in cases related to narcotics and terrorism. He directed officers to establish effective follow-up mechanisms to ensure successful prosecutions.
The IGP also instructed officers to intensify area domination and night patrolling in sensitive areas while maintaining strict surveillance on anti-national elements (ANEs). He further stressed the need for enhanced market checking to prevent illegal activities.
Concluding the meeting, IGP Birdi reiterated the J&K Police’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security. He urged officers to uphold principles of transparency, accountability, and the timely resolution of cases to protect the rights of citizens.
