BJP J&K Observes Emergency Day Programme in Srinagar.

Srinagar, June 25, 2025 – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K organised a solemn programme in Srinagar to observe Emergency Day, marking the dark chapter in Indian democracy when the Emergency was imposed on June 25, 1975.

The event, organised by the BJP Senior Leader, DDC Srinagar Er. Aijaz Hussain, along with the BJP Lal Chowk Constituency, witnessed the enthusiastic participation of party members, karyakartas, and local leaders. The Chief Guest on the occasion was the Hon’ble Member of Parliament (MP Rajya Sabha) Shri Ghulam Ali Khatana.

Shri Ashok Koul, BJP General Secretary (Organisation) J&K, Members of Legislative Assembly J&K (MLA’s) Shakti Raj Parihar, MLA RS Pathania, MLA Satish Kumar Sharma, MLA Baldev Sharma, MLA Dilip Parihar, DDC Mendar Tipu Khan, BDC Basant Raj, BJP Spokesperson Altaf Thakur, District President Srinagar Sheikh Salman Were also present on the occasion.

Member of Parliament (MP Rajya Sabha) Ghulam Ali Khatana who addressed the gathering with powerful remarks on the importance of safeguarding democratic values and freedoms.

While addressing the gathering, Shri Ghulam Ali Khatana said, “The Emergency period stands as a grim reminder of the excesses and suppression of democratic institutions. We must never forget the sacrifices made by thousands of political workers, many of whom endured imprisonment and torture to uphold the Constitution and the voice of the people.”

Shri Ashok Koul in his adress said, BJP’s commitment to protect the rights of citizens and to continue the mission of strengthening democracy across all corners of the nation, including Jammu & Kashmir.

“Today we remember those who stood up against injustice during the Emergency. We must ensure that such an undemocratic move is never repeated in the history of our nation, Ashok Koul added.

Chief Guest Shri Ghulam Ali Khatana along with the BJP General Secretary (Org) J&K Shri Ashok Koul inaugurated the Emergency Day Exhibition in Municipality Park Jawahar Nagar later planted saplings under “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”.

The programme concluded with a pledge by all attendees to uphold the democratic ethos of the country and continue working for the development and unity of Jammu & Kashmir under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The event also included recitations, a brief documentary on the Emergency, and interactions with senior party workers who shared their memories of resistance during that period.
