Varmul Gindo Sports Festival concluded with a spectacular closing ceremony held at Showket Ali Stadium, Baramulla on 18 September bringing together athletes, officials, and fans to celebrate an extraordinary mix of sportsmanship and competition.
The sports festival was conducted from 4th September to 18 September over two weeks. 1508 players enthusiastically took part in 14 sports and 142 matches were conducted at various locations across the Baramulla district to include Showket Ali stadium, Boniyar, Nadihal, Shakeara & Gen Bipin Rawat Stadium.
The atmosphere in Showket Ali Stadium was electrifying as people of Baramulla were desperately waiting for the closing ceremony and also Football Finals between City FC and Hyder FC. Both teams fought hard till last minute with remarkable skill and sportsmanship and City FC stood victorious in penalty shootout. The electrifying atmosphere created by fans and audience was spectacular.
The Varmul Gindo was praised by locals as one of the memorable moments that defined the unity of the region. Special recognition was given to outstanding athletes, with awards presented for exceptional performances in various disciplines by teams as well as Individual players.
Varmul Gindo symbolised the continuation of unity between the Indian Army & youth of valley, cherishing the growing bond.
Locals praised the dedication and talent of all participants. The event showcased not only athletic excellence but also the spirit of camaraderie and unity among the youth. The participants and the local community members expressed heartfelt gratitude to the organisers for providing them a platform to engage in cocuricular activities like sports.
Varmul Gindo has once again demonstrated the power of sports to unite people from all walks of life, inspiring future generations to embrace the values of competition and teamwork.
