Two VDG Guards Killed in Jammu Kashmir, Bodies Yet to be Recovered

SRINAGAR: Two Village Defence Group (VDG) guards have been kidnapped and killed in Kishtwar district on Thursday evening, official sources said.

It is suspected to have been done by militants. They said that the incident took place in a forest area of Kishtwar. While it is presumed that both guards, Nazir Ahmad and Kuldeep Kumar have been killed, their bodies are yet to be recovered.

Security forces have launched a massive search operation in the area to locate the bodies and apprehend the assailants. Further details are awaited.

JKNC President Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have condemned the killing through a post on social media platform X. The tweet reads, “Such acts of barbaric violence remain a significant impediment in achieving long lasting peace in JK. In this hour of grief, their thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased.” (With inputs from KDC)
