Six FIR’s Registered; Flying Squad Formed, Against Rotten Unhygienic Meat Sellers: Police

Srinagar, Sep 11 (KNC): Srinagar Police on Thursday carried out a crackdown against the sale of rotten and unhygienic meat in the district.

In its action, police as per a statement issued here to news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC said six separate FIRs have been lodged against offenders at Lal Bazar, Bemina, Batamaloo, Safakadal, Ram Munshi Bagh and Zakura police stations. The cases were booked under BNS and Food Safety Act provisions.

A Flying Squad has also been set up, comprising Srinagar Police, Civil Administration and Food Safety Department officials, to conduct surprise inspections across the city. Several consignments of rotten meat have been seized and destroyed during the checks.

Police have reiterated that no such malpractice will be tolerated and warned of strict legal action against those found guilty. Public has been asked to report such violations at the nearest police station or helpline numbers. (KNC)
