Srinagar, June 20 – As Prime Minister Modi prepares for his visit to Kashmir, security measures have been significantly bolstered in Kulgam district and along the National Highway (NHW) in Qazigund and surrounding areas, officials reported today.

Under the directives of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sahil Sarangal (IPS), extensive search operations have been ongoing for several days in Kulgam, including the Navyug tunnel area.

“Multiple checkpoints have been set up along the Srinagar-Jammu highway at Gantagar, Chawalgam, DH Pora, Behibagh, Yaripora, Qaimoh, Devsar, and Qazigund. Enhanced frisking and monitoring of commuters are being conducted at key locations, with security personnel stationed to conduct vehicle inspections,” an official stated.

Tomorrow, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to commemorate the 10th International Yoga Day at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Complex (SKICC) near the scenic Dal Lake in Srinagar.
