📍Ganderbal, July 19:
In a proactive move to ensure seamless security and emergency preparedness for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2025, the Jammu & Kashmir Police carried out a comprehensive mock drill along the key pilgrimage routes in Ganderbal district.
The high-intensity exercise was meticulously crafted to replicate real-life crisis scenarios such as terror threats, stampedes, medical emergencies, evacuation operations, natural disasters, and crowd management issues. The drill sought to evaluate the synergy, responsiveness, and operational efficiency of multiple security and administrative forces involved in the Yatra, including the J&K Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and civil administration.
Critical and vulnerable points along the Yatra route were identified for the simulation, with an emphasis on swift crisis response, inter-agency communication, and optimal resource utilization in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Senior officers from various wings of the security establishment oversaw the drill, scrutinizing each stage for performance and offering actionable feedback to further refine field readiness.
Importantly, the mock drill was executed smoothly without hindering the movement of Yatris or inconveniencing the local population. Police authorities expressed gratitude for the public’s cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the sanctity and safety of the Yatra.
