Kupwara Police Nab Drug Peddler, Charas Recovered in Ongoing Anti-Narcotics Drive


Kupwara, June 25(TKD):
In a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, Kupwara Police on Wednesday arrested a drug peddler and seized a quantity of charas during a routine naka checking operation.

The operation was conducted by a police team from Police Post Bazar at Geerhatchi, where a checkpoint had been set up as part of heightened surveillance measures. During the course of checking, a suspicious individual was spotted moving from Lolab towards Kupwara. On noticing the police presence, the suspect attempted to flee, but the alert naka party acted swiftly and intercepted him before he could escape.

Upon questioning, the individual was identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Reshi, son of Abdul Ahad Reshi, a resident of Kupwara. A personal search resulted in the recovery of a charas-like substance from his possession.

Subsequently, an FIR numbered 185/2025 was registered under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Kupwara, and further investigation has been initiated to trace the source and any potential network involved in the drug trade.
