
Srinagar, June 20 (GNS): The Director Colleges J&K has issued a strong rebuttal to misinformation circulating on social media regarding the upcoming Yoga Day celebrations. Allegations claimed that employees were forced to participate, female employees were made to change their clothes, and pregnant women were compelled to take part in the event.
In an official handout, the Director Colleges J&K clarified that all participants in the Yoga Day celebrations have volunteered for the event, and no employee was compelled to join against their will. The Director emphasized the voluntary nature of participation, stating, “All participants in the Yoga Day celebrations have volunteered to take part in the event. No employee was compelled to join the event against their will.”
Addressing concerns about the dress code, the Director explained that employees were not required to change their clothing. Instead, they were provided with long tunics to wear over their existing attire, ensuring their comfort and convenience. “Employees were not required to change their clothing. The Director also underscored that the well-being of employees was a top priority. Pregnant employees and those with medical conditions were not asked to participate in the Yoga Day celebrations. “We ensured that the health and comfort of all our employees were prioritized. No pregnant employee or any individual with medical conditions was compelled to take part in the yoga sessions,” the Director affirmed.
The Director Colleges J&K urged the public to verify facts before spreading false narratives that could cause unnecessary concern and confusion. “We request the public to check the authenticity of information before sharing it on social media. Spreading misinformation can lead to unwarranted panic and misunderstandings,” the Director cautioned.
This statement comes on the eve of International Yoga Day 2024, which will be celebrated in Srinagar with a significant event led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Dal Lake. The event aims to highlight the universal appeal of yoga and its potential to foster unity and wellness across diverse communities.
