SOPORE, September 20 – Director General of Police (DGP), J&K, Shri Nalin Prabhat-IPS, today visited Police District Sopore, where he inaugurated a new Special Operations Group (SOG) Complex and chaired a high-level security review meeting. He was accompanied by IGP Kashmir Shri V.K. Birdi-IPS and DIG North Kashmir Shri Maqsood-ul-Zaman-IPS.
During the meeting, SSP Sopore Shri Iftkhar Talib briefed the DGP on the current security scenario and challenges in the district. The DGP stressed the need for a robust security grid and continuous pressure on terrorists and their support networks. He emphasized a policy of “no guilty should escape, and no innocent should be harmed.”
The DGP directed police officers, including SDPOs and SHOs, to strengthen public engagement, ensuring citizens have free access to police services and their genuine grievances are addressed promptly. He reiterated that police stations must be strong, responsive, and people-oriented to build community trust.
He also called for close coordination with other agencies, enhanced area domination, and increased night patrols to counter the designs of anti-national elements. The DGP interacted with SOG officials, commending their commitment and urging all personnel to work with dedication and professionalism to protect lives and maintain peace in the Union Territory.
