Srinagar, Sep 5: Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board and Minister of State, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, on Friday strongly condemned the vandalism of the emblem at the revered Hazratbal shrine, terming those behind the act as “terrorists.”
Addressing a press conference at Hazratbal, Dr Andrabi described the incident as a “calculated attempt to hurt people’s devotion” and called for the immediate arrest of the culprits. “When I saw the emblem broken, it felt like a cloudburst had struck me,” she said.
She alleged that political elements were fuelling chaos and urged stringent action, including registration of FIRs under the Public Safety Act (PSA). “I appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and Home Minister Amit Shah ji to intervene and direct security agencies to nab the culprits. Even the MLA who tweeted to provoke sentiments must face action,” Andrabi stressed.
Reaffirming her commitment to protecting religious places, Dr Andrabi declared that no politics will be allowed in Waqf affairs. “Our mission is to safeguard shrines and strengthen faith. Those conspiring to sabotage this sacred mission will be exposed and dealt with sternly,” she asserted.
