Fresh Cross-Border Firing Reported Despite Ceasefire Agreement

Jammu, May 10 :
In a concerning development late Saturday evening, Minister Satish Sharma from the Omar Abdullah-led government confirmed that fresh firing has erupted at multiple locations along the India-Pakistan border, despite both nations reaffirming a ceasefire agreement earlier in the day.

“Firing is being reported at the borders. Heavy firing is going on at several places. They (Pakistan) must honour the ceasefire. I’m present here on the ground and monitoring the situation closely,” said Minister Sharma.

This escalation has triggered fresh tensions in the region, with residents in the border areas reportedly panicking as gunfire continues. Authorities have yet to release any official figures on casualties or damage.

The development raises serious questions about the durability of the ceasefire understanding between the two countries and its enforcement on the ground. Further updates are awaited as the situation unfolds.
