Education sector forms core of societal development: Sakeena Masood

Chairs introductory meet of School Education Department, reviews its functioning

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 21
The Minister of School Education, Higher Education, Social Welfare and Health & Medical Education, Sakeena Masood, today convened an introductory meeting of School Education Department (SED) at Civil Secretariat here to review the functioning of the department.

During the meeting, Sakeena Itoo held detailed deliberations on various aspects of SED besides discussing issues and concerns of the department.

Addressing the officers, the Minister asserted that we need collaborative efforts for enhancing educational outcomes for students across the region. “Our primary goal is to ensure that every child receives quality education in line with requirements of today’s scientific and digital world”, Sakeena Masood asserted. She impressed upon all the stakeholders to work closely and in coherence with one another to identify issues and implement innovative solutions for them.

While reviewing the human resource related issues of the department, Sakeena Masood directed the Principal Secretary to identify vacant posts at all levels and refer them to recruiting agencies for filling at the earliest. She also asked both the directors to organise training modules for teachers in their respective divisions to ensure that educators are equipped with the latest pedagogical skills.

While reviewing the infrastructure and other related issues of the department, Sakeena Masood impressed upon both the Directors to upgrade facilities at all Girls Hostels. She also asked for creating facilities of basic amenities in all educational institutions on priority.

During the meeting, Sakeena Masood expressed commitment towards transparency and accountability within the department and directed all officers that delay of files will not be tolerated at all. She remarked that education is an important sector which forms the core of societal development and we need to work with full commitment to ensure well being of our society.

The meeting among others was attended by Principal Secretary, School Education department, Chairman SCERT, Secretary JKBOSE, Director School Education Jammu/Kashmir, Project Director Samagra Shiksha and other senior officers of the School Education Department.
