Shillong – In a prestigious ceremony held in Shillong, Director General of Assam Rifles, Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, Honors Mr. M S Nazki, a distinguished author and Special Defence Correspondent, for his outstanding contributions to the field of defence journalism.
Mr. Nazki, widely respected for his insightful reporting and in-depth coverage of defence affairs, was honoured for his dedicated efforts in bringing the spotlight to the commendable work of the Assam Rifles. His writings have consistently showcased the operational readiness, humanitarian missions, and historical legacy of India’s oldest paramilitary force.
Lt. Gen. Lakhera lauded Nazki for his balanced journalism, highlighting not only strategic defence narratives but also the humanitarian dimensions of security forces, especially in sensitive regions like the Northeast and Jammu & Kashmir. He praised Nazki’s commitment, stating,
“It is rare to find a journalist who reports with such passion, precision, and a sense of national responsibility. Nazki’s work carries positive energy and builds public understanding around the forces that protect our borders.”
Hailing from Jammu & Kashmir, Mr. Nazki has carved a unique space for himself in the defence media landscape. He is known for maintaining a dual focus—keeping one eye firmly on the strategic developments in the defence sector and the other on the genuine humanitarian issues that often arise in conflict zones.
Often referred to as a “Glow-fly Journalist”, a term used to describe those who shine a light in the darkest corners of reporting, Nazki’s work is not only informative but also deeply empathetic. His journalistic integrity and dedication to truth have earned him admiration from both defence officials and civilians alike.
In his address, Lt. Gen. Lakhera added, “Recognising such journalists is essential in today’s world, where defence awareness needs to be both accurate and sensitive. Nazki’s work is a brilliant example of this balance.”
The Honors of M S Nazki not only acknowledges individual excellence but also underscores the growing importance of ethical and informed defence journalism in nation-building.
